What caused Great depression

Depression doesn’t have one precise and universal cause. Several factors take part into shaping it. It is considered that during depression some changes in brain are taking part. For example, concentration of neurotransmitters (biologically active materials) are changed. Hormonal changes should also be considered: hypothyroidism, menopause  and etc. genetic legacy is also important, because we meet cases of depression in people, who have ancestors with depression. Depression is expected also when biological relative of potential patient was trying to commit suicide.

Scientists are trying to find a gene, which may be responsible for depression development. naturally, heavy life stresses help depression to arise: loss of beloved person, financial problems, diagnosis of incurable disease. Permanents changes in brain are caused by childhood stresses (violence, losing parents and etc.), which may lead to depression. Contributing factors are also lack of friends, poor relations. Personal characteristics such as low self-esteem, being depended on others, self criticism, pecismism and others should be considered too. Due to depression some try drugs and alcohol. May happen the contrary – due to using drugs and alcohol the depression will arise. And in the end some medicines (blood pressure medicines, sleeping pills and etc.) may also contribute to arising depression.

Illness may occur at any age, but most commonly it happens after 20 years. Women get ill twice more then men, though it may seem this way due to the fact that women can share their feelings more easily and visit doctors.
Know by heart
-depression isn’t just a bad mood, this is chronic recidivous (repeatable) illness, you should find a way out with doctor’s help.
